How does stress contribute to weight gain? Whenever we are placed in stressful circumstances we tend to search for things that provide comfort, much as a child feels about a security blanket. We also seek things that give us satisfaction and things that we find pleasure in. It's the body's natural way of balancing good/bad. In turn, food generally provides that source of comfort, pleasure and satisfaction. Finding other avenues that allow an egress to vent stress is just one way of managing weight. |
