Does walking or running work best for losing weight?

If you're not used to exercise, you'll need to start out slow and of course, get the old doctor's approval.  But once you beef up your activity level, and begin searching for quicker methods of dropping pounds and buffing up the bod, what burns more calories - running or walking?

Fact is, it doesn't matter if you walk or if you run, the body will experience about the same calorie burn - when based on the distance that the individual covered during the running/walking phase.

Taking a 'running' comparison, an individual can experience an estimated calorie burn as follows when walking:Fast Weight Loss

A 120 pound individual walking 2 miles per hour will burn about 160 calories.  If they double those efforts to 4 miles per hour, they can burn about 280 calories.

A 210 pound individual walking 2 miles per hour will burn about 210 calories.  If they double those efforts to 4 miles per hour, they can burn about 375 calories.
